W przypadku Sandforce zazwyczaj jest problem z oprogramowaniem kontrolera. Niestety kontroler ten szyfruje dane sprzętowo i nie ma możliwości odczytu danych z modułów pamięci. Niewielki procent przypadków tych kontrolerów udaje się odzyskać, ale to zależy od tego czy oprogramowanie jeszcze dycha w minimalnym stopniu.
