Hi,

I am trying to repair G505S LA-A092P rev 1A found shorted capacitors at location as on picture:

I am not good with injecting the voltage to figure out which one is the problem .... what other method is suggested to find which one is causing the problem ?

Plan to buy IR camera to quickly figure out which one is shorted.

Is it a pure short circuit (0,00Ω) or just a low resistance (3-20Ω)? Measure it with an ohmmeter. Note that your meter will have some measurement error which must be determined. Please short both probes together and read the error result (eg. 0,4Ω), then measure the circuit (eg. 3,1Ω) and finally, subtract the error result from circuit result (3,1Ω - 0,4Ω = 2,7Ω). This way you will get an actual resistance to ground.

Measured with multimeter.

Multimeter has error of 0.4Ω so I have deducted from the values measured.

So it is clear that there is no short circuit but just a low resistance, which is correct here. Does the fan spin all of the time? Does the logic board react to power button? What is the actual current consumption observed before and after pressing the power button?
