Hi,
Got a water damaged Macbook Pro and the chip TPS51125 is blown. Its a 24 Pin QFN package.

Going to try and remove it with hot air station but never tried this before.

Has anyone else? Got any tips so I dont remove all the resistors ands caps around it?

Use bottom heater first, that will make chip remove much easier.

Best as big as board, because smaller can cause board deformation - not all boards but some which have thinner PCB.
Of course you can use only HA to remove this qfn, but that will require higher temp and longer time.

Thanks,
Bought an Aoyue 968 rework station but didn't know about the board heater.

Got the apple mother board and a Vaio board to do at the moment.

Will hold off to get board heater.

Its good to have bottom heater, also when you need to replace many other things, like dc jack etc.
You can also try to change BGA chips with bottom heater and HA, its not perfect but some people do that way.
