Model: Western Digital WD5000BMVV
Box: WD Elements SE Portable 500Gb

Windows find the box, impossible reading the hard disc data.
After, windows show the message: "Firmware problem, firmware translator damaged".
No have method for direct connect Hd to pc.

Dead interface, hd or plastic box? :lol:

Sandro, please provide full name of drive WD5000BMVV-xxxxx. Please write model of PCB (it is printed on PCB). Do you connect drive directly by SATA or USB? (I suppose that this drive has only USB interface).

Problem could be a quite complicated. You can look here to connect standard SATA interface: http://forum.hddguru.com/usb-sata-new-m ... lit=771754

But if service area has broken modules you should have proper tools to fix it (for example to fix the translator). Drive can have bad blocks too - it is quite common.
Drive starts normally? Or strange sounds, noises?
