HP ZBook 15 G3 - nie reaguje na włącznik

Objawy - na początku płyta martwa, jedynie dioda przy ładowarce pali się na biało. Po zmianach opisanych później sytuacja jest taka że płyta po podłączeniu zasilacza miga 5 razy biało pomarańczową diodą od ładowania baterii, gaśnie na kilka sekund, następnie pali ciągle się na pomarańczowo. Nie reaguje na przycisk power. W momencie wkładania wtyku ładowarki, dioda przy przycisku włącznika delikatnie zapala się na ułamek sekundy. Dioda przy ładowarce działa normalnie tzn. świeci się na biało.

Co zostało zrobione:
- podmieniony układ KBC na nowy NPCE586HA0MX - AA2 na ściągnięty z chin który tej końcówki 'AA2' nie ma. Nie wiem czy ma to znaczenie w tym przypadku.
- Podmieniona ładowarka BQ24780S na tą samą z innej płyty.
- Podmieniony bios na wersję znalezioną po innych forach dla płyty z mojej rewizji tj. B. dotyczy to kości UE3 oraz JBIOS1

Pomiary napięciowe zrobione w momencie jak płyta stoi z pomarańczową diodą ładowania baterii. Bez podpiętej baterii.

Bardzo prosiłbym o pomoc w diagnostyce co można jeszcze podziałać z płytą. Dysponuje boardview z forum (dzięki ), schematu brak. Robiłem jeszcze pomiar kamerą termo ale nie ma na płycie podejrzanego punktu. Bez baterii lekko grzeje się BQ (lekko mam na myśli ok 30C), po włożeniu baterii brak większej różnicy. Lekko nagrzewa się KBC (podobnie ok 30C równomiernie).

Pin 1 (PWR_GOOD_3)- 0V
Pin2 - 1.18V
Pin3 - 0V
Pin4 (GND) - 0V
Pin5 - 3.3V
Pin6 - 1.18V
Pin7 - 3.3V
Pin8 (+5VL) - 5.08V

It looks like no positive signal for Pin3.
I check:
- R177 and R182 (both are 0V).
- D28 all pins 0V.

- Measure the voltages to ground on pins 40, 64, 71, 79, 81 of KBC chip.
- Measure the voltage to ground on pin 1 of resistor RE140.
- Measure the voltage to ground on pin 2 of resistors RE54, RH348.

- Measure the voltage to ground on pin 4 of KBC chip in the following cases:
a) Power button released.
b) Power button pressed.

Ok,KBC pins:

Pin4 - 3.3V (button not pressed) 0V (button pressed)
Pin40 - 3.3V
Pin64 - 3.23V
Pin71 - 0V
Pin79 - 0V
Pin81 - 0V

RE140 Pin1 (element not mounted on the MB) - 0V
RE54 Pin2 - 0.181V
RH348 Pin2 (element not mounted on the MB) - 0V

I do more check close to PU3 (RT8207 the lowest resistance 400 Ohm for pin 16 and 17) and PU34 (RT6219).
For PU3 pin 8 (it's S5 input - datasheet) is 0V
Por PU34 pin 4 (it's EN input - datasheet) is 0V and pin 1 (PGOOD - datasheet) is 0V.
Line SLP_S4# (PD8 pin 1) is 0V (RH343 is not mounted, RE140 not mounted)
QT16 pin 1 - 3.3V
QT16 pin 2 - 0V

Hi, small udpate.

Meanwhile i repair similar board (game MB numbers but intel Xeon platform), there was problem with KBC. I measure the coils in same state and that second bord have active PL8 coil what is mean there is +1.0V (ALWP from boardview).

Going back to the topic board look closer near the PU2. Measuring it and going by enable line I found there is missing three components - PR20, PR23, PC31. And one capacitor on PCH (sorry but pads looks like from factory).

I restore the previous BIOS and power on the board. Now situation is better, MB is turn on but with black screen. Caps lock and NumLock on kayboard is lighting 5 time very slow and after that fan is increasing it's speed durring the time up to max and MB is turning off and on again.

Next my steps will try update the bios with the dump one. But it could create current issue or it's internal problem with PCH ?

Specify the voltages to ground on all coils, when the machine is turned on.

Sorry for delay with it. It's look like missing 1 phase PL48 and PL50. It is normal ?

I check MOSFET driver NCP8132 PU35 and PU37. Voltage in is ok 19.67V, +5VDS is ok. There is no PWM on pin 4. Compare voltage from PR179 pin 1 there is ~220mV and it's look like something is changing fast there to PR175 pin 1 where is 2V and it's stable.
Resistance to GND PR175 pin 1 - 42kOhm.

Next in line is PU9 (NCP81205)

Have you transferred the ME-region from your old (original) BIOS to this new one before reflasing the BIOS chip?

Nope, I haven't done that. Is ME region able to block fully the display and voltage regulator at the start?

I expect that the display will start and there will be some problems.

By the way at this moment have got old BIOS flashed.

So your suggestion at this moment is to update the once again BIOS file and transfer ME Region from the old one. Correct? I wonder if the dummy bios from the internet is somehow corrupted, and maybe a good option is to use bios from the working second board (but it is the Intel Xeon platform)

Yes, possible.

Because you reflashed the BIOS chip with another dump and then again with the old one without transfering the ME-region, you may block (brick) the PCH chip this way.

Ok, thank you for the information, not so good for me. I need support regarding choosing a good way now (I'm not familiar with changing the ME Region):
1. Use bios dump from the internet and transfer ME Region from old bios.
2. Use working bios from the second board with Xeon on board (MB numbers and revision are the same) and transfer ME Region from old bios.

If it does not help then it is possible that PCH caused the problem (damage or brick) and must be replaced. I do not know the past of the board.

Regarding ME Region I need to look up the forum, read and prepare for that. If you @matic have a got good tutorial, the link to it will be helpful

You can try with both BIOS dumps. If you transfer the ME-region from your old (original) BIOS to the new one, there is no fear to damage anything, even if the new BIOS is not suitable for your board configuration.

Ok, back to the topic, thank you for the link and suggestion. I use my working bios from the Xeon platform. I check the ME region and in both cases, I have that same ME. In the ME analyzer there is no difference between the original file and the used bios from Xeon. I copied all EEPROM's.

What is the effect - same. The notebook is starting, black screen, fan increasing the speed till off the notebook and it's repeating. By the way, the notebook starts while the PSU adapter is connected (automatically). The motherboard without the DDR memory is noticed by a beep sound that memory is missing. While waiting to get the MB, the CPU is getting the temperature (it can be felt on the radiator after 5-10 restarts).

The voltage on PL48 and PL50 is still not present.

One thing that would maybe be good to try will be to try to clean ME and try to it there (maybe old bios were modified by someone and the ME is not ok in the original bios). Any suggestion?

I feel that I'm very close to success but I haven't an idea what ME or PCH could do if it's not working correctly. From my side only replacing the PU9 is reasonable but it does not look as not working or broken somehow.
