Hello Everyone,
I try to identify problem with this MacBook Air.

Image

Motherboard was removed and I test it on my bench.
I connect charger (light stays on amber/orange) but fan does not spin.
After voltages inspection I have found PP5V_S0 to be missing.
By following voltage creation I have checked 5V S0 Switch (U8080) and problem gets bigger.

Image

Missing voltage PP5V_S4RS3 (resistance of this line measured 34kΩ).
Missing voltage P5VS0_EN (resistance of this line measured 2.5MΩ).
Can I assume that U8080 is the problem ?
Thank you.
Regards,
Rafal S.

Hello!
Why, if the enable signal on pin 2 of this chip is missing?

- Measure the power consumption (in mA) of the board without battery connected.
- Measure the voltages to ground on pin 2 of resistors R1460, R1461, R1462, R1463, R1464.

Hi Matic,
Thank you for helping me.
I have measured required values:
- Measure the power consumption (in mA) of the board without battery connected - 27mA.
- Measure the voltages to ground on pin 2 of resistors R1460 (0V), R1461 (0V), R1462 (0V), R1463 (0V), R1464 (3.3V).

Measure the listed voltages to ground:
- On pin 5 of chip U5110.
- On pin 14 of charger chip U7100.
- On pins 5, 20 of chip U7501.
- On pins 4, 6 of chip U8130.
- On pin 1 of resistor R5158.

Hi Matic,
I have measured required voltages:
- On pin 5 (3.3V) of chip U5110.
- On pin 14 (3.3V) of charger chip U7100.
- On pins 5 (0V), 20 (3.3V) of chip U7501.
- On pins 4 (3.3V), 6 (3.3V) of chip U8130.
- On pin 1 (0V) of resistor R5158.
Thank you for your continuous help.

Sorry, my fault; I meant pin 1 of R5185.

Also measure the following voltages to ground:
- On pin 1 of resistor R5171.
- On pin 2 of resistor R1410.

Measure the following voltages in cases "a" and "b".
- On pin 1 of resistor R5170.
- On pin 2 of resistor R1405.
a) Power button released.
b) Power button pressed.

Hello Matic,
I have measured additional voltages:

Pin 1 (3.4V) of R5185.

Also measure the following voltages to ground:
- On pin 1 (3.4V) of resistor R5171.
- On pin 2 (0V) of resistor R1410.

Measure the following voltages in cases "a" and "b".
- On pin 1 (0.4V when pressed and 3.4V when released) of resistor R5170.
- On pin 2 (0.3V when pressed and 3.4V when released) of resistor R1405.

Thank you.

Have you measure the voltages with connected a genuine Apple power supply MagSafe2 45W or more?
- If not, remeasure the voltage to ground on pin 2 of resistor R1410 with a genuine Apple power supply.
- If so, set your multimeter to the diode test mode and measure the voltage drop to ground on pin 2 of resistor R1410.

Hi Matic,
I was using Apple MagSafe 1 (90W) with adapter to MagSafe 2 as I normally do for testing.
It looks like this was a problem. I have borrowed MagSafe 2 (45W) from my friend and Macbook has started.
I have only one problem left with this one. Keyboard backlight is not functioning and is not available to adjust up and down:

Backlight flashes once when laptop starts but that is all. I have measured voltage on keyboard backlight connector and there is 5V.
When I wake up MacBook from sleep there is single flash too.
From your experience is this normally fault within keyboard assembly or can be on motherboard too ?
Thank you.

Measure the voltages to ground on pins 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 of chip U7750, when the keyboard backlight should be turned on.

Hello Matic,
The problem was within cable going from motherboard to trackpad/keyboard.
I have tried different one and keyboard backlight stays on. Can be adjusted too.
Thank you for all your help and time.
