I am getting

With battery plugged in
D= 2mV - 25mV
G= 2.6V
S= 2mV - 23mV

battery and power supply
D= 0mV - 22mV
G= 2.8V
S= 0mV - 22mV

Replace the bios and remember to save the old one.
If you do not solve replace PU4403, PU4404, PU4405.

Bridge the pins 1 and 3 of transistor PQ4301 and check, if the laptop works with the battery.

@machine the Laptop has always powered on ok on the power supply. i update BIOS to latest from Acer website.

I replaced BQ737 TI 55I A471 with BQ737 TI 5J? ATIL at the beginning and i replace PU4404 and PU4405 with similar mosfet from scrap Wistron board and still no change, readings are the same.

@matic i bridge pin 1 and 3 of PQ4301 with tweezers and try to power on from battery and no change. shall i solder a wire between them?

What voltage is detected on pin 3 of the battery connector, with the battery inserted.

battery connector pin 3 = around 2 - 25mV

@matic now after making bridge between pin 1 (BAT_G) to pin 3 (BI_SW) on PQ4301. If i press on hold down "Battery Insert" (SW1) button, i get 12.4V on the board from battery, but only whne i hold down SW1.

laptop will power on from battery, only if i hold down SW1

Perhaps with the card inserted in its housing sw1 is pressed by the battery.
With sw1 pressed the battery is recharged?

Yes there is small peice of rubber under the palmrest that must press the SW1 down.

i can power laptop on battery, with SW1 pressed. But in Windows it say 90% charged, if i plug in adpater it jumps straight to 100%, no charging up.. So i think it still not charge battery.

As I said in post #6 the button "SW1" should be pressed all the time, when the battery is connected to the laptop.

Run the laptop on the battery for a while to discharge it on ~10%. Then connect the power supply and check, if the battery is charging.

i ran the new battery down to around 15% and plugged in the power supply and it DID start to charge. it charged whenthe laptop was switched on and off.

I also tried one of the older batteries, at first it didnt appear to do anything but then after half an hour it began to charge too. So far so good.

Would this be down to the bridge on PQ4301? or becuase when testing the motherboard out of the case the SW1 button was NOT pressed.

Can you explain what the bridge would of achieved so i can understand. i see by bridging pin 1 and 3 it would of brought the BAT_G side to GND. Does this mean transistor PQ4301 is defective?

The bridge between pins 1 and 3 of transistor PQ4301 bypass the "battery enable circuit", which is formed by the following components:
-Resistor PR4301,
-Button RESET1,
-Transistor PQ4301,
-Button SW1

To enable the battery the button SW1 should be pressed and button RESET1 should be released. Does the laptop works with battery in this case?

Yes, all batteries are charging now when they are in the case and bridge is on PQ4301.

Was charging problem caused by faulty PQ4301? is it possible to replace? or just leave bridged transistor.?

From your tension reliefs it seems to me that PQ4301 works well.

Remove the bridge on transistor PQ4301 and bridge the button SW1. Then measure the voltages to ground on all pins of PR4301 and PQ4301.

@machine Maybe the resistor PR4301. It measured = .989 mΩ

@matic excuse my inexperience, how can i bridge the SW1 button? From T1 or T2 to any other part of button? i cant see any space to solder wire .

It is huge diference between mΩ and MΩ.

Bridge pins 1 and 5 according to the BoardView, or pins T1 and T5 according to the schematic diagram.

ok i remove bridge from PQ4301 and bridged SW1 (T1 to T5).

Battery and power supply
PR4301
1= 3V
2= 2.75V

PQ4301
1= 0
2= 2.75V
3= 0

Battery only
PR4301
1= 3.1V
2= 2.8V

PQ4301
1= 0
2= 2.8V
3= 0

PQ4301 and PR4301 are working.

Solder the resistor PR4304 on the board. It is currently not soldered.
Use the value 10MΩ, package 0402.

After that remeasure the voltages to ground on all pins of transistor PQ4301.

@machine ok so if they are both fine, what could be the problem? i am past my level of understanding.

@matic is it possible i can use resistor from a scrap motherboard? i dont want to wait to order parts in.

can i try and find 10M ohm in the same size package? also can i measure resistor value whilst it is on board.?

what values should PQ4301 have if working normal?
