Acer ES1-531 Domino_BA 14285-1 Nie ładuje akumulatora

Hi

i have Wistron Domino_BA 14285-1 board, it does not charge the battery. I have tried 3 batteries and it is the same on all. here is all the information i have. thanks.

here are readings when charger plugged in and battery conected.


voltage on the battery connector pins
WITHOUT BATTERY
Pin1 - 2.7V
Pin2 - 2.7V
Pin3 - 47mV
Pin4 - 3.3V
Pin5 - 3.3V
Pin6 - 3.3V
Pin7 - 0V
Pin8 - 0V

WITH BATTERY
Pin1 - 2.7V
Pin2 - 2.7V
Pin3 - 110mV
Pin4 - .300V
Pin5 - 3.3V
Pin6 - 3.3V
Pin7 - 0V
Pin8 - 0V

Resistance to GND Battery pin2 (BT+) = 1.200m Ω

Readings from Discharge mosfet PU4402
Plugged In with battery
D- 2.6V
S- 19.2V
G- 19.2V

Just battery
D- 0V (slowly decreased from 2.6V)
S- ~100mv
G- 0V

Measure, with the battery and power supply connected, the voltage on pins 8 and 9 of PU4403.

Voltage on both Pin 8 and 9 of PU4403 = 3.3V

You think maybe a problem with the "battery reset" button that Acer laptop have to disconnect battery.?

I do not know the task of the battery reset button.
Check the voltages on PQ4301.
Check that the CR battery is charged.
Detach the CR bartteria and all other sources of power.
Short G1801 for 20 seconds.
Reconnect all power supplies and check operation.

PQ4301

adapter plugged in Battery connected
1= ~ 15mv
2= 2.8V
3= ~ 12mv
Just Battery
1= 0V
2= 2.8V
3= 0V

There is 3V on CMOS battery, i removed CMOS battery and shorted for 20seconds but no change.

Check the "Battery Insert" button. it should be pressed, when the battery is present.
Measure the voltages to ground on all pins of PQ431, with connected battery + power supply.

PQ4301

When "Battery Insert" (SW1) button pressed
1= 0v
2= 2.8V
3= 0v

No press
1= 15mv
2= 2.8V
3= 12mv

It seems that there is always 2.8V on the Gate of PQ4301 with battery and power supply or not.. Will that be keeping PQ4301 "open" all the time? Does that make problem?

this goes past my knowledge of charging circuits.

PR4301 is present and of correct value.

PR4301 = .989 mΩ


I lift one side of Coil PL4401 and the "Phase" side goes up from 2.7V to 5.5V? I dont know if this means anything.

You have the possibility to try the batteries on another computer.

I only have 2 of these Acer Aspire ES1-531 and they both have same problem.

maybe it manufacturing defect?

Inside the battery there is a charge control circuit that communicates with PU4403 and the KBC through pins 8, 9.
If this circuit is broken or the battery is faulty, charging will not start.
If on the 8 pin of PU4402, with only the connected battery, a voltage higher than 9v is not measured, the battery has big problems of function.

Yes drain pins on PU4402 is only low mV

but it a bit of coincidence that 3 batteries all have same problem. I am sure problem is on motherboard, it just i am not skilled enough to find it.

BT+ doesnt seem to be getting generated. here is all components on BT+ rail if it helps.

Bride the pins 3 and 8 of the battery itself, when it is disconnected from the laptop. After that measure the voltage between pins 1 and 8.

do you mean just short the pins 3 and 8 or connect a wire between them?

Yes, exactly.

Yes, of course. If I'm not mistaken, it should disable the protection circuit inside the battery and the voltage on battery terminals should appear.

As I said in post #14, just bridge the mentioned pins and measure the voltage, when the battery is disconnected from the laptop. No need to connect the battery with bridged pins to the laptop.

I bridge pin 3 and 8 on battery, and test voltage and i get 12.4V on battery..

I try other 2 batteries, but i think they do not have any charge in them.

Check if your tensions match those written in green in the attached drawing.
