Personally I've never tried. But I think that if possible.
In a comprehensive document I found on the web, called "BQ24707 HSFET latch-off issue". If you type that into google, you can download it easily (do not remember if they are allowed links to other websites...)
Summarizing a little, the document repairing Cell Li charger circuit, replacing a BQ24727 to BQ24707 also talk about changing the capacitor that goes to pin 17 (BTST) of 0.1u to 0.047u.
The document also includes a fantastic analysis of the operation of this circuit, and screenshots of the signals.
