Dear boardmembers,
first I want to express my respect for such a well led forum with lots of usefull information. - But like others, I found my way to this board due to a problem
I have a Mitac 8515 with problems, due to a BIOS flash. The bootloader does still work, but I do not know the key-combination for BIOS recovery console (it's a Phoenix BIOS and I tried all the standard combinations like Fn+b, Win+b, Fn+Esc, Fn+r, Fn+Pos1, ...). I do not want to solder the flash, so I would like to try something else first.
What I would like to try:
1) Find the key-combination for recovery console - Maybe someone knows it? - I'm doing a disassembly and debug (with bochs) at the moment, but am still in PCI initialisation.
2) I only have the service manual for 8615, so I would need to recheck it with sm and / or schematic for 8515: It looks like, as if the LPC bus is present at the mini PCIe socket, so I also could try, to wire the LPC to my programer and do a flash from there. But since I do not have the schematics, I do not know, if it is possible, since I do not know, if it arrives directly or by some shifting or switching instances.
I realy would like, to get the schematic and sm from your database, but as a new user with only 6 points, I can not even see the attachment links.
Just an idea: If it were usual for boards with LPC BIOS and mini PCIe, that they are connected, and assuming, there is a direct connection, it would be easy, to build a USB-LPC transceiver on a mPCIe PCB. - A nice service tool. - Sorry, I know, I always think some steps ahead, but often don't move my feet, to follow
Thanks in advance
Marco
